PROCESO: DESIGNING THE BELEÑO
In our R&D process, the things that look simple sometimes take the most work, while the ones you’d expect to be difficult go surprisingly fast. That’s how it was with the BELEÑO utility short, which we developed quite rápido. It also surprised us by being able to be worn front to back and back to front, a feature discovered by the girls in our team while styling it their way.
The shorts are based on a wide style that we started pleating and playing with. We liked the idea of creating a channel along the center of the leg, like a pleat, and began exploring the concept of negative symmetry for the pockets. Their spaces are equal, but asymmetrical: if there's one sticking out on one side, the other side features an internal pocket with the same volume. This applies to the front, back, and cargo pockets.
One thing we are very happy with is the "double" waistband detail. You can flip the waist of the BELEÑO and raise it slightly, providing a different fit, and the belt loops are detachable, so you can use them interchangeably on either side.
