Proceso: Berlanga

The BERLANGA is our most tailored pant. During its early stages, it was actually even more formal—some prototypes had a full lining and a tailor-style waistband, which weended up cutting from production. Along with the JARRAMPLAS, it was one of the starting points of the project: Héctor needed something for a gala, and the first GOSPEL ESTUDIOS samples saw the light of day.
One of its distinctive features is the godet. It wasn’t part of the initial design, but we liked how it looked when we tried widening the leg. We were also interested in adapting the flared style, so we added eyelets in the seams to let you open it up or close it as you like pulling a lace through. That’s how we introduced the ADAPTABLE SISTEMA.

The closure originally involved a metal tab, but we switched it out for two diagonal buttons to reduce materials and cut down on metal. We wanted to do away with the metal zipper, making the pant easier to downcycle after its useful life, but we couldn’t find a solution that felt right.

Finally, the hem on the BERLANGA is intentionally left unfinished (NOT-READY-TO-WEAR, anyone?) Think of it as our nod to traditional sastrería—you can trim and tailor it to your needs and wants. Even the back seam is a bit wider on top, just in case you cojas unos kilillos and need to let it out in the future.
