Dual sistema
There is no prescribed way to wear most of our garments. We want to question the conventional boundary between their interior and exterior. Since both sides always bring something different to the table, we wonder...
Who decides if a seam looks better from the inside or from the outside?
Clothes have a special ability to express whether we’re following a norm or breaking away from it. Consider the message a uniform sends; how differently we view the same person in pajamas and dressed as a surgeon, even though both outfits might actually look similar. What someone wears shapes our gaze towards them, but the importance we place on this view, as with most conventions, only reflects an agreement we’ve all unconsciously accepted. Y las reglas están para romperse, rules are there to be challenged.
The DUAL SISTEMA starts a conversation about the norms set by fashion tradition. Why do we always draw a line between the inside and the outside of our clothes? Can we escape from our predetermined ways of dressing?

We believe so, and all GOSPEL ESTUDIOS tops are designed to be worn with either side showing, allowing for exploration of different textures, volumes, and graphics in different contexts.

Although bottoms need a tighter fit around the hips, rear, and waist, complicating reversible design, the BASAJAUN and the BELEÑO can be worn ‘backwards’. Headwear pieces like the ANTRUEJO and the ARCANA can be worn front to back, back to front, inside out, and outside in, in any of their variations.
Our garments are crafted in the language of tradition, yet they don’t have a ‘wrong’ side to hide, because, at the end of the day, who are we to decide what is right and what is wrong?
Well, the patterns of all the tees and hoodies in your wardrobe enable you to wear them inside out—eso es a fact. Still, you rarely see people walking around wearing them like that because many don’t consider it as an option. But experimentation is always valuable, and viewing clothes predominantly from a frontal and external perspective is limiting; it keeps us from being creative with them. Moreover, as designers, we must consider every angle and equally craft both the interior and exterior of our products, from front to back and on all sides.

You can tell whether a garment has been made with care or carelessly just by reading its interior details
The inside tells the story: the spacing between stitches, the execution of pleats, the way the bindings are finished, and the seams all indicate whether the piece was made bien and if it is likely to last. That’s why our apparel is delivered to you inside out. We’re proud of the work our manufacturers have done, and we believe that displaying it respects the effort that goes into making them.
Wearing clothes in unconventional ways—whether ours or others’—is a way to reimagine your wardrobe, repurpose what you already own, and generate a more mindful relationship with them.

Now, it’s up to you on how you want to wear them. But beyond engaging you in the debate, the DUAL SISTEMA also gives you a chance to display parts of your clothes that are usually hidden. You can switch up your look day by day, using the same piece but expressing different things with it. And there’s a bonus: it comes in handy when you make a mess and get a mancha; just flip it over and whoop! palante.
